The Locals team drawn from Castlemaine and district soundly defeated the Visitors in a short but lively road bowls match at the recent 2012 Newstead Live! music festival. Held on Sunday 28 January 2012, the Visitors team of Northcote players and friends lost by five throws to the winning Locals, captained by Eugene, in the second annual match to be played at the Newstead festival.

The teams were neck-and-neck in the early stages of the game, but Locals pulled away strongly to win 20 throws to 25.
