A controversy over interpretation of rules ensured an exciting finish to the road bowls match at the Nariel Creek Folk Festival in the closing days of 2011. With players drawn from across Victoria and New South Wales, the two teams battled neck-and-neck until close to the finish line when a wayward bowl landed behind a brand new car.

A safely-placed shot to ensure the integrity of the vehicle saw the losing team miss out on the honours by a few throws.
