Game date: 2 April 2011
It was a classic “Fiddlers” two-team road bowls match at the Yarra Junction Fiddlers Convention 2011 on Saturday 2 April 2011 with Skanks (captained by Oscar France) defeating No-one (captained by Morgan Mackay). “No-one lost,” declared umpire Ken McMaster in announcing the scores
Bowl-of-the-match was scored by Robin Mackay.
Played under Nariel Creek/ Fiddlers’ Convention rules, and with around 10 players per team, the game provided plenty of highlights.
According to usually unreliable sources, "No-one" unsuccessfully tried to bribe the umpire with a bag of mixed lollies (as if!) and also lost points for not holding the fencing wire open for the umpire in the transition from camp to road.
Highlights of the match
Only two body lengths were called during the game (both for bowls under cars), the teams were not stopped by the police (they just waved and drove past) and no-one (ie nobody) was injured.
The umpire’s daughter, Jenny, will hold the trophy on behalf of Skanks (how’s that for keeping control!)
