Game date: December 2011
The annual “Chewton rules” road bowls match at the recent Nariel Creek Folk Festival resorted to a new form of bowl, helping create a record for the course. Due to an administrative oversight, the standard Chewton rules 4 pound scale weights were unavailable, so the enterprising organisers searched for new bowls for the match.
Sourced from nearby, the stand-in 3 pound scale counter-weights brought new life to the game!
Despite their octagonal shape, average bowling distances increased markedly from standard, and the game was completed in a record number of throws.
